Napolé..on ..rice!

ANDRE GARDELLA, on August 27, said:

Merci kerly.

Andre I have been looking forward to seeing his latest creation, and your artistic depiction of it, and I can't believe the summer slipped by!

I like this one very much, although I could never pick a favorite. Have you gotten to know this farmer?

Greetings from Miami,

Mary

ANDRE GARDELLA, on October 28, said:

Summer sure flew away, riding on two weeks of great vacations and one month of difficult times for my wife's family. Hence my long absence from our dear panoramio. Now autumn has come and life will go on.

I have yet to meet that farmer who decided to grow rice in an other way, in a more artistic one. The Rice Field Art fad is now booming all around Japan. With some astonishing very japanese, and not very japanese results. You'll find in here more of those "Paddy Art", not always successful or artistic, I must say. Would you care for a short YouTube video on the subject? Here it is . Hope you enjoy it.

What will be next year design? An other insect, I hope. There is also beauty in continuity.

Autumnal and warm greetings from 12 232 kilometers west of Miami. (Thanks to wolframalpha.com for the precise distance)

How nice to hear from my tatamized Corsican friend from 12,212 kilometers away!

I am sorry you and your wife have been through difficulties. I hope things are better now.

I have enjoyed all your links, and explored the wonders of rice even further on YouTube. Of all the time I have spent there, it never occurred to me to look up rice fields!

I'm amazed at the variety of arrozarte -- and even more amazed at the time that the Japanese farmers spend on these creations. Some of them are truly bizarre -- Mona Lisa?

Looking at all those pictures brought back the unique dark green of Japan. I would think other volcanic places have the same color, but I have only sen it there.

Warm greetings to you, Andre

Thanks for your concern. In one month, my wife lost one of her uncles and her best cousin, a 40 years old mother of three girls. It was very hard for her but we cannot even imagine the pain those children had to bear and the sadness they must fill every day of their young lives. However, they seem to be able to stand up and strong. Live must and will go on. Sorry to have trouble you with those private concerns.

Mona Lisa, Napoleon! Who will be the next historical figure to be a part of those fields? Maybe I should send them my picture. One never knows. One could become an historical figure after having his face drawn in yellow, green and black rice ears. Well enough nonsense! I'll send the face of our esteemed insect agri-artist once I have found him. He deserves more than anybody else to be painted in those fields.

A good day to you.
