For old line navigators using a three arm protractor the sunset silhouettes of city features offer good fixes. From the left the water tower at approximately 38.9614° -76.4797° gives a good "cut" for the spire of St. Mary's Church, the Capitol Dome and the Naval Academy Chapel dome. The bright lights at far right are lighting the academy sports fields of Farragut Field.
Without doing the navigation or noting the GPS at the moment the photo's position is only approximate.
