Daffern's Wood in the village of New Arley (North Warwickshire) is a surviving remnant of the once great Forest of Arden, the setting for Shakespeares A Midsomers Night's Dream. The name Daffern derives from the much older 'Godolphin', from which we get 'Godiva'.
There is something special about this small woods, tucked between houses and an industrial park. There is a great abundance of wildflowers, insects and birds including buzzards. The light in these woods seems different somehow - almost golden. A small stream trickles it's way through the heart of Daffern adding to the magical atmosphere that it has held since time in memorial.
