Cocktail hour

Wow Mary, it may be cocktail hour, but it's the beaks and eyes that grab you here. The beak of the bird on the left is translucent. The eyes show a bit of sadness ..... "If it's cocktail hour when are they going to bring out the nibbles?"
Lovely photo of these birds against this dark background :))
Thank you so much for your generous comments and close observation, Amelia. The translucent beak is exactly why I chose this one out of the many I took that evening.
There was a huge flock of them by the campus lake. They must have been visiting Sebastian the Ibis, our school mascot.
How interesting that you noticed the expression on their eyes, Frank.
I'm slowly getting back into Pano and checking out my favorite galleries. I just took a peek into yours, and am looking forward to a retrospective of your work in 2009. Of course I didn't forget you!
Thank you very much Jörn. It was the glow from the setting sun, but they did seem to have their own light. That was what caught my eye in the first place.

Hi mary! I hope they haven't got a fight, not looking at eachother......, no, really, a very fine picture! Greetings, Ed.
Thank you so much for visiting my gallery, Ed.
I don't think they could fight during such a beautiful sunset.
I appreciate your generous compliment.
Greetings,
Mary
Fantastic lighting, the curved beak seem to have an inner glow. Regards, Jörn
What a great shot Mary, reminds me of earlier work from you. Those asking eyes.....fantastic.
Cheers - Frank - Glad you didn't have forgotten me!

Greetings from Georgia,
Kyle
Thanks for visiting, Kyle. These are ibis on the University of Miami campus. They are the wild cousins of our mascot Sebastian the Ibis.
They are so tame...this evening I walked through a flock and they didn't even move away from me.
Greetings from Miami,
Mary
