I'm not sure what this house is, but it doesn't appear to be a residence. It is situated at the western terminus of Line Rd with the US/Canada border going through it.

Google Street View covers this general area now from the QC side...there is a very limited barrier across the road preventing direct access from QC to VT. This may have been a residence at one point in time.

This looks almost exactly like a residence pictured a number of years ago in what I believe may have been National Geographic Magazine (I don't remember which issue) or one of their publications. The photo at the time showed a purported resident standing next to the monument. If this isn't the same building it looks remarkably similar to what I remember.

This is a commonly photographed building because of the huge boundary marker right by the front door. I recall seeing a picture of it (and it's owner at the time) in the 1983 book about the US-Canada border "Lakes Peaks and Praries".
