Near this cabin are 2 mine shafts that are now flooded. In the background is a local winery, Chappell Vineyards. There are still active gold mines not far from here. There was also a Chinese settlement not far from where the vineyard now stands.

Thanks for the comment nucscott. Doug Chappell, who owns the vineyard, is the grandson of my father's sister, Violet Sturrock. We visited him in September 2005.
