A main landmark of this 'close-up' is a 64 m high bell tower of the Church of Ascension (Russian Orthodox convent) that was built 1870-1887. People in Jerusalem call this Tower as a...Russian Candle! It dominates the area of the convent and is a skyline of the Old Jerusalem. July 11, 2009.
