Greetings Eve, We have a tree full of heron nests by our house. They show up every spring and there are about ten nesting pairs in the tree. Looks like a busy airport at times with all the birds flying around. All our herons seem to fish in the neighborhood fish ponds in people's yards, so they eat well on goldfish and minnows.
hi eve, he looks like he is just about ready to get dinner, lovely serene shot :)
Thanks for visiting, Rich and Rosina. I was happy to get this shot. I really wanted to take pictures at a heron rookery just down the river before the trees leafed out, but I never made it in time. I think this bird might have a mate with nestlings that he's feeding, which is why he's so intent. Quite often, they are rather shy in this area.
There are occasional herons in a park near my house, but none are as decorative as this particularly well-plumed gentleman. Very nice eye-grabbing picture
Very beautiful heron picture, Eve! I like it! Anne:)
Très belle capture photographique. André Un autre
