Yes I can as I too had to look twice have you tried to find photos of the after effectof the quake? if not look for te "Hawkes Bay Earthquake" it will revealsome interesting photos.

Thanks for suggesting that I look for earthquake photos. Very interesting--quite devastating! Our visit to Sydney was also too short, but we thoroughly enjoyed our entire trip, from late August to early October.

I like these unique buildings. They are typical New Zealand buildings!
No these are not typical fo thr buildings of New Zealand, But they are for Hastings and Napier. This is a result of an Earthquake in 1931 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napier_earthquake) when both of these town were distroyed and had to be rebuilt.
