Hilary Lyons writes, "The long grey complex is a former Mental Institution called St. Annes. It has now been converted into Apartments with the well intentioned integration of people into the community.....but unfortunately community sevices have not kept up to pace with integration of special needs and people with mental problems." Thanks Hilary. It is an impressive sight when one wanders the banks of the River Lee. Perhaps those who know its history and are familiar with it are less inclined to give it a second look, but it was one of the most vivid memories of Cork for mere tourists such as me.
