Oyster-fields appear when the tide goes down, about every where in the shallow seas of the Bretagne coast...

An absolute delight for those who like them!!

Thanks for the interesting comment Patricia!!

Looking at the adjacent map close-up, the evidence of large scale oyster farming can be seen. There are hectares of these beds just visible if you look closely ;>)

Very well seen Jim!!! Hectares and hectares indeed! The seescape changes enormously depending on the tide (tidehight goes from 9 to 12 meters, depending on the moonquarter!!).

Sandy beaches, oyster and mussle banks emurge out of the blue... And boats lay like fish on the dry...

I remember being here in a place called Vivier sur Mer, and the tidal race was just amazing - it was a "spring" tide, and came in across the flats so quickly one had to run to get out of the way. It was interesting to see how many animals ran out too :))

Huitres et Moules et Pommes Frites - ah - what memories this one brings back :))

Lovely reflections Patricia

Vivier sur Mer, oh yes, that's at the Baie the Mont St-Michel...Amelia We were there, at Cancale too...

The baie is known for its tide coming in at the speed of a running horse...

I'll put up some pictures of dry-laying boats later on. I've seen them all over but they keep amusing me....
