Thank you Luud, I have been trying to find the place where my Oma and Opa used to live in Apeldoorn. They lived opposite a lake which was in a small park. I've been on Google earth and it seems the most likely areas are Oranjepark and Prisenpark. I am sure their house had a thatched roof but maybe the thatch got old and was replaced by tiles or something else. It is so good to see your photos; I feel very nostagic :-)

Hi Hetty , The "Parkenbuurt" in Apeldoorn is a beautiful place to live and a protected cityscape. I'm a builder and I don't think they changed the thatched roof into a tiled roof. There are three parks ;Oranjepark,Wilhelminapark and Prinsenpark (the most small). Only a few (4 or 5 I think)have thatched roofs. If you want I send you the addresses.
