This grand home built around 1912 was on the estate associated with Gutes Bluecher which is a short distance away across the Sude River. Abandoned at the end of world War 2, as its owners fled to "South America", "Timkenberg" has been used by itinerant farm labourers who have squatted in it. The Teldau was a productive agricultural area generally above flood level, and now protected by dykes from spring thaw floods of the Elbe, Kranke, Sude, Schaale Rivers that all flow together here. My interest in this location is because my ancestors were born here and laboured here in abject poverty in the feudal period. From here they migrated away, dispersing across Germany, Denmark, Australia and USA.
