Best regards, Fran
Oh wow, did I enjoy looking at all the details in the enlargement, Jim -- the flowers on the seawall, the aged bricks, the chimney pots...
I see that the tide washes tourists up on your shore, too! Ours will be drifting in pretty soon.
Cheers from Miami,
Thanks muchly for the missive and info re Shearings, I intend to call them soon!
Many thanks for all your interesting and generous comments
YBMW--this is a scene which always enthrals me Julie, each time I leave or enter the harbour my journey takes me past this old familiar staith ;>)
steve111--in the few hundred yards between the 100 year old swing bridge, and the ancient stone piers at the harbour entrance, there are very many English pubs, eateries of international flavour, ladies hair stylist!! Take-away's, coffee shops!! restaurants of great acclaim! candy floss stalls, oyster and sea-food stalls!! Wet(fresh)fish shops!! a tattooist!! THE DRACULA EXPERIENCE!! amusement arcades; a commercial ice making factory; shell fish storage tanks; a fish selling market!(replete with fishy stench); a rock shop(candy); iced-cream vendors; and finally a public toilet!! Well! you would! wouldn't you!! and just in case you need the services of a clairvoyant, you can cross their palms with silver! not that there is a silver coin of the realm of sufficient worth!!
©-Miguel A. Rodríguez Terán--Muchas gracias Miguel por sus amicable comment and visit ;>)
Hans-Michael Penzler--The tourists take a great interest in river traffic and are amazed at the antics of my little dog who has taken to posing at the stern of the boat for their benefit!!
Fran Torres--I am glad that you can sense that feeling of warmth Fran for that is the intention of all those people who work effortlessly to promote a feeling of well being!! This is a town in which you can chill out and relax in comfort ;>)
MaryKnapp--Many years ago Mary, tourists only came during the busy summer months. Over time, people got a lot wealthier and the town is better able to cater for their needs!! Now, the town is packed throughout the year, especially at week-ends!! Accommodation needs to be booked well in advance otherwise it's a sleep on the beach!! unless the tide is in!! ;>)) BTW Mary, in my day, I confess to having imbibed the evil nectar to the point of paralysis!! Having lived in an English pub with my parents, not very far from this scene, the habit came quite naturally!! Now I drink only occasionally!
Thanks for stopping by folks!!
Bardzo ładnie skadrowane. Super photo. Romulus

Beautiful port edge. Very well done!!! :)
Best Of, febrok
This part of the old town has many cafe's, pubs, restaurants, sea-food stalls and take-aways!! The aroma can be quite overpowering at times!! Some of the buildings date back to the early 17th century!!
Happy Snapper uk
