Gorgeous colors! It would seem one twin is much older than the other. Or do my eyes deceive me, it appears to me one has a coat on?
Never mind, I see it is the reflection of the water back on the boat. I was just trying to stretch my mind around how someone could get a cover on a boat on water.
Hello © MİNE SAGUNER, now I must not allow so much time to pass before answering all my mail!! There is a problem here that prevents me from opening the comments box under the comments I wish to address!! This has happened since the partial migration of Pano!! has this affected you also???
Thanks for your lovely compliment Mine
Laurentiu Mitu...Hi! Lorenzo, there is always something going on in the harbour of my home town!! This is a place I enjoy ;>)
joyphotos...these fishing boats, known locally as Cobles, are constructed using traditional skills that date back to the Vikings!! Not one Coble is the same as the next. Variations in the shape and size are at the discretion of the builder whose efforts are controlled by the timber, his work tools and atmospheric conditions that prevail at the time!!
I am not sure why you should think that one of the boats is wearing a coat, try expanding the image on your screen, this might help!!
Kind regards to you all ;>))
As a boat owner/fisherman myself I have to say that cobles are the most perfectly proportioned working boats ever built. I know we have had this discussion before but before it is too late a preservation society should be formed to make sure no more are lost to the nation. I am trying to do my bit by photographing and painting every one I see. I think you find it hard to pass one without clicking your shutter but is anything else happening?
sayo2009, Saludos Sayo... su buen cumplido se aprecia mucho, gracias por venir;>)
Like your self John, I am concerned about the loss of these wonderful Cobles, and even more so, the death of hand built clinker planked fishing boats!! I know of only two artisans here at Whitby who are capable of this! No one is passing on these unique skills and the youngsters have no interest! There is a preservation society based at Filey, but how active they are I am not certain--It may be worth checking this out on the net :>)
A very nice photo, Congratulations and Best Of!
Greetings from Hamburg, febrok
