The Malpas tunnel was drilled over a length of 170 meters, in sandy sandstone, with a constant risk of collapse in the winter of 1679-1680. It was not enough to reach the sea, it was necessary to reach Sète. This will be the last major project led by Paul Riquet, indeed, he died a few months later, on 1 October 1680. Roger.

Le Tunnel du Malpas a été percé sur une longueur de 170 mètres, Symbole même de l’obstination de Pierre-Paul Riquet pour son grand chantier, le Tunnel de Malpas, fût construit en 1679 et fût aussi le premier tunnel construit pour le passage d’un canal.

Tes dernières photos sont très bonnes Roger. J'ai visité Narbonne il y a deux ans pensant y acheter une maison... Finalement ça a été le Limousin (plus calme en été)!
