Thank you Arthur for your visit and affirmation. The most common vantage point for photographing this monster minster is from the other end looking across the pond and including reflection.
A very good website that tells of this building and a gallery that takes you inside is linked here.

It certainly impressed me, inside, outside, the associated buildings, its history, and its construction. One of the more memorable cathedrals I have visited around the world.
Thanks for your referral, Ge Ko.

Ge Ko, the Hanseatic History is not something one could possibly learn about on this side of the world, but I found it fascinating when I was there, and I had some very good local teachers.
I found others in Germany who were also descended from the same ancestors as I was, and they were discovering their history through me. They were teaching me the local history while I was with them.
Do you also have ancestors from Mecklenburg?
Ian

Ian, my ancestors came from Silesia.
1945, after the 2nd World War, the German population had to emigrate. The grandmother and their children after imigrierten Mecklenburg.

There stood the castle of a Junker (large landowner).
The grandfather was in warcaptivity until 1946. In the Russian zone was land reform. The grandparents were farmers.

Dear Ge Ko,
Thank you for sharing this information on your family. I have had a close look at GE and feel as if I have visited the villages.
The old history is still so evident in Mecklenburg, for so much of the land division is as it was and the many old buildings have been maintained.
