Carrickarade Island, for the geographers and students of geomorphology who love Panaramio and Google Earth, is a doloritic plug. Tuff beds are evident in the mainland cliff opposite. Lava flows have built much of this attractive coast, and the nearby Giant's Causeway is part of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In fact the Causeway Coast is listed as World Heritage by UNESCO.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm I have been here as well.Beautiful photo **Ian.I traveled right up along the Antrim Coast.I remmeber there was a very unsuial sign I saw when driving up there one day many years ago.There was this sign with a very large ! mark on it and then it said.Beware of Falling Rocks and there was this huge bolder about 50 feet round that had come down the hill and they had even put the road around it as it would have been impossible to move even a few feet I think!!! :-) I saw many interesting a funny things while there, but had a fantastic time.Even made went on a Radio station making Radio Gingles for some guy who had a morning show called The John Paul Show, on 1026 Downtown Radio Newtownards
