Godalming

Isn't this the local nursery out for their daily walk? The children probably aren't even related.

Dear Nick Knack. Pandoras is right. This is the local (almost all-hours) nursery which is in the old British School (later St Edmunds Primary and then the Adult Education) next door to the Fire Station. The nannies look after the babes fromVERY early until VERY late and take them out in posses of triple buggies for walks in the town.

The other thing that people forget about Godalming is that it was a Tannery town...two of them - and hides shipped up the river - .not just a pretty picture postcard. And had about three breweries and about 18 pubs. And a murder and a gallows. NOT just a pretty place - a real old working industrial town it was!

sheiladot, The tannery is still in evidence I think, although is now been converted in what looks like offices. For the rest I am sure that every town has it's dark secrets making places lets say more interesting!... On the other hand if you go back to the 17/1800 century you'll find that the streets then were lined with sh..t! So cheer up its not so bad today.
