You certainly caught the action, Steven! They're sort of gangly things anyway, aren't they? I don't now that that's the right description, but they've never seemed to me as ... efficient ... as some other birds. Cheers, Marilyn
Thanks for your comments about the Cormorant. You are right about the Cormorants they are definitely not the most elegant of birds although when you see them in the sky it is different. My favourite birds are Albatross's. Any bird that can fly without landing for six or seven years has all my admiration.
Even Albatross's. however are not terribly elegant on the land. They tend to throw themselves off a cliff to become airborne but after that they are masters of the sea and sky.
I liked this picture because you can see so clearly the tracks they are making as they take off.

I think that these Cormorants had eaten a few too many fish. As you can see they were finding it difficult to take off.
