Hegyestű

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

A Káli-medence kapujának őre a Zánka és Monoszló között 337 méterre magasodó Hegyestű. Egykori bazaltbánya, amelyben feltárul az 5-6 millió évvel ezelőtt keletkezett vulkán belseje. A vulkáni kráterben sétálhat a látogató, ahol a kihűlés közben sokszögletű, függőleges oszlopokként megdermedt bazalt lávazuhatag látható. A legalább 50 m magas bányafal kőoszlopai hazánkban egyedülállóak, de Európában is csak kevés hasonló található.

The guardian of Kali-basin is the 337m high Hegyestű wich is located between Zánka and Monoszló. It used to be a basalt mine, in wich we can see the inside of a vulcano arisen in 5-6 million years. Visitors can walk in the crater, where you can see the sheer polygonal column of the chilled lava. The minimum 50 meter high columns are unic not only in Hungary but also in Europe.
