Berghof - Late 1930's or Early 1940's (Slide purchased in 1962)
Originally called Haus Wachenfeld, it was remodeled and enlarged in the mid-1930's and became known as The Berghof. It was the Berchtesgaden (Obersalzberg) home of Adolf Hitler.
During the Allied bombing raids of April 1945 it was badly damaged and finally destroyed in the 1950's.
The private Hitler bunker is under the house, and I have a photo from the early 1960's of his bunker bedroom on my Panoramio page. In those days it was possible to enter the private bunker from the Zum Turken and tour the remains. This is no longer possible.
