Outstanding shot! The sharp focus on the stamens and pistils give it a 3-D effect.

Thank you, seabow! Won't go on holidays this summer, so I rather focuse on the tiny things on my balcony! Warm greetings.

Passiflora certainly has a special and beautiful flower, Maja. With this on your balcony you wouldn't need a summer holiday - instead you could simply imagine you were in Paraguay or Brazil, Tonga or Australia.

Do you know why this plant got its botanical name, passiflora, Maja? (There is a clue above that you do, and yet another clue that you may not.)

Ian

As far as I am informed, the flower resembles Christ's thorn crown - is there another reason? As always, you know than I do :))
