Thanks Marilyn... May 12th 03... I can't even remember what country, but believe it must have been the Mekong... And the Easter Bonnet's look like they also had quite a trip!

Perhaps it is Oz... as those could be Salties...

Hi Snorth

The weed is Salvinia (water fern). I think you are right about the Mekong. The snouts are too narrow for salties, but they could be freshies. Not too much Salvinia in the North Qld rivers either (thankfully!), so more likely not Oz.

Only Asiatic one with snout like that is false gharial, which is most likely Mekong too.

Had a quick look through your collection - fantastic! What country is your 'home base'?
