Unsure of the location, maybe someone with knowledge of the area can enlighten?
I am embarrased to say that my knowledge of my home county is now quite poor, but if I was forced to throw an idea out I would say Deepdale based on the exposed escarpment that you can see here and is visible on the north side of the valley.
Did you ever see this old negative of mine Peter where someone corrected its location and took some up to date photographs from the same location. Got be worth trying. Put it somewhere on the map and someone with local knowledge will find it and correct it.
Before we started walking in Yorkshire I visited for four years on the trot, and each time did a long circular motor tour from York. On this occasion around 1990, and looking at the sequence of photos, we took in Spurn Head, Knaresborough, Fountains Abbey and the Hole of Horcum.
This was the last photo and so it was probably somewhere around the Hole of Horcum?
Perhaps this is not the end of the sequence; there may be more on another film! It was your good self that gave me the idea to invest in a slide and film scanner, and now I am knee-deep in old films!
All the Best Peter
