Ominous! Electric anticipation!

Looks like the same cloud we watched flashing lightening and pouring rain off in the distance last Saturday, while we frolicked in the sun at Crane Beach. Crane had an unusually high high tide caused by the hurricane, but it wasn't even windy. Weird.

Thanks steve, Guy, n1w, and Penny! Not much wind or lightning from this storm, but it was a pretty amazing creature to watch approach. I've never seen anything like it (though I've just seen Don Lamont link to an old pan of his that looks identical!) Steve sure knows me - I was safe with the car just a few feet away, but the rains weren't too bad. The storm also headed off to the south, so believe it or not, my shots to the right of this at the same time have the setting sun poking through! (too low in the sky for anything other than a hint of a rainbow, though.) guess I'll post some shots of the other views.

And Penny - this was on Monday and didn't have much lightning, but the cloud was very similar to Saturday's great fireworks show. I was in Gloucester for that, and posted this shot of that show.

Thanks Bruce! There were several of us just standing there staring in awe watching it approach. It really seemed like a living creature.
