More than a year ago, after Swissmay posted a lovely picture of a gentian, I told her I'd show her a North American variety when they came into bloom. Alas, late last summer I couldn't find any where they used to grow profusely! But now I've found some nearby, though not nearly as many as I remember from the past.

Dear Marilyn, thank you very much for this beautiful picture of an 'American gentian'! It looks very similar to our 'Gentianopsis ciliata'. They are lovely little flowers, not as big and dark blue as the Alpine Gentiana, but very pretty indeed with their fringes and finally they all belong to the same family. I have found some Gentiana asclepiadea recently, which I will upload sometime. May

Many thanks, photodegraff, Jimmy, and Margot, and May, I'm so glad for your comment. I love the colour and the delicacy of the fringed gentian, and I am so happy that we found some this year.

It's such a vaporous violet colour. The nature's mysterious glamour always makes us vibrate with admirable points of view. What a great shot ! Best wishes from Vietnam/trananh
