This is really a beautiful image Ansel. I'm guessing a combined shot because of the range. Wonderful processing for a rainbow of color and details. A YS image. :)

Best regards, Tom

Tom, Thanks as always for your kind remarks! Yes, a combined shot. I find it keeps higher detail levels than HDR while you can still retain excellent color levels too.

Atur, many thanks. I am glad you enjoy it!

Greetings, Ansel

Good HDR work Ansel, and you have avoided "the tree" (everyone who has been here to photograph this lake knows what tree I'm talking about... those of you who have not: it's the tree that's obstructing the view from highest point of the cliffs where people tend to take the photo).

Rainer Warzecha on September 15, 2009

Wow! A stunning one. Well composed and spectacular in colours!

Juha, I actually had a quiet place to myself during early dark hours of the morning. As it started to get lighter I meandered over to this hill at the end of the lake, not realizing that was the hot spot for photographers. It was really quite crowded, had I known that I likely would have stayed away. I try to find images (or at least views) that are a bit away from the norm.

fotomess and Rainer Warzecha, thank you for the grand compliments!

Best wishes, Ansel

Beautiful picture, beautiful colors - Greetings from France

Ansel, the hill really is the hotspot for the great masses (it's closest to the car park...) but at the same time I think it gives the best views to the lake and the mountains, too. While I was there, I did a short hike to Larch valley and Sentinel pass, nice views also there.

Ansel Siegenthaler on September 25, 2009

Merci beaucoup, Bernard!

Juha, you are right the hill probably has the best view of the lake - and easiest. I try and challenge myself to find a good "unorthodox" shot much of the time - for better or worse :) Larch Valley and Sentinel Pass were quite spectacular as well - a knack for the same hikes I suppose.

See ya from Sandy ;)

holger, I am happy to inspire you!

Sandy, I appreciate the sincere feedback. I scoured the area for a while in the dark looking for a good spot. From this location I could get the desired peak tops and their reflection in the water. Then I only had to wait!

Schneidereit, Danke!

Greetings, Ansel
