Interesting, a building in a lake! Looks strange but great!

©junebug, on June 15, 2007, said:

Thanks for your comments. This tower is a remainder of a small village called Graun which was flooded around 1950 to create this artificial lake (Lago di Resia - Reschensee)near the Austrian border.

It reminds me of John Boorman's "Deliverance," and that scene in which a big truck moves away a little church to save it from the area's being flooded. Of course, it was a small church, made of wood... and in the film there is something hugely absurd about the operation (and not entirely fictional). Here, in your picture, like redi said, there is something immensely sad...

A beautiful but sad landscape. A church under the progress.

Thank you, Nicolas and Romao, for your comments. To me this sight also made a sad impression.

Hola Anne:

Saludos, Arturo.

Greetings Anne, Very interesting photo. We did the same thing to the town of Nederland, above Boulder, many years ago. When the reservoir gets low you can see the old streets and foundations. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Rich

To the unknown person who suggested a new position for this photo: I set the mark at the point from where this picture was taken, not where the tower is standing. Anne

© Daniel, on June 7, said:

As you are supposed to place the marker. Nice photo Anne. Was this tower once on dry ground and then it flooded?

Daniel

Thank you, Daniel! Here you can find more information about that lake and the tower if you like. Greetings, Anne
