This is the text on the plaque next to the church:

The Igreja de Santo António da Torre Velha is the result of the reformulation of the ancient chapel in the early 19th century (documented since the 18th century) devoted to Nossa. Senhora da Esperança and lately to Nossa. Senhora do Carmo when it was enlarged. Outside, the longitudinal plan of the church presents a curved incomplete fronton and top pinnacles of side pilasters, the remaining façade being having been subsequently covered with glazed tiles. The bell tower with elevated interior stone faces was concluded in 1814 and strikes itself by its height and by the size of its gargoyles . Both church and tower of the medieval fortification co-existed until mid 19th century, when the latter was demolished, the popular designation of Igreja de Santo António da Torre Velha having remained.
