Very intersting! This has also been used for defence, probably? How old is this church? Best regards, Timo

it has many legends..some including the devil and some about a sailor who survived a shipwreck

Hi all I know this church well, my parents lived in Coles Cottage at the bottom of the Tor from 1963 -1987 and on my visits I often climbed the Tor, go down from Coles Cottage and there is a small stream, where I often sat with a book on my leave from the Army ( I was in the Queen Alexandra Corps at that time Army Nurse). My mother reported that she often saw a monk passing the side of the cottage. (apparently the monks once lived there) Also been noted that coffins have appeared from the the side of the Tor because of landslides. I was there in 1977 celebrations when fires were lit across the country in celebration of the Queens jubile. Although a lovely place to visit not so nice to live, very misty and dank, but holds lots of memories of my parents. 1963 snowed in terrible wheather, farther had to climb out of the upstairs window to dig a path away from the door, both my brother and I were snowed in for a fortnight unable to get to our camps,9 my brother being in the Airforce )
