The moorland looks lovely on a day like this in autumn, with the display of heather, bilberry and gorse. We were, on a later occasion in the winter, to mistake the time of sunset and to experience the fear of finding the way back to the car in darkness.
Of course here in the Peak District there is still the light from the big cities close by, but out on Dartmoor or Exmoor it would be different. I remember looking at one of your photos of a road, miles from anywhere, and commenting on the darkness you must experience, especially when there is no moonlight.
I suppose that English moorland would be best described by Emily Bronte and Wuthering Heights!
