The new Sea Sports Centre (on the right, and still under construction) on Dover's seafront Esplanade.

The existing Dover Water Sports Centre website says:

"Dover Water Sports Centre is looking forward to moving to the new Sea Sports Centre, with a Cafe/Restaurant and "hot" showers. This means we can all keep enjoying sailing and powerboating throughout the whole year..."

At the time of writing (15th of September, 2009) there are flyers dotted around town saying the anticipated date of completion is "Late 2009", at which time the Dover Sea Sports Centre website will probably become active.

The long row of white buildings beginning on the left are in three blocks consisting of: Dover Harbour Board's "Harbour House", the Churchill Hotel (Waterloo Crescent), and the Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club.

On the skyline on the other side of the River Dour valley are Dover Castle (Norman}, the Pharos (Roman), and the church of St Mary-in-Castro (Saxon).

The above photo was taken from near the Clock Tower (where Sue's Seafood Stall is!) at the entrance to the Prince of Wales Pier.

Although the beach appears to consist entirely of pebbles, there are extensive stretches of sand near the water's edge at this end of the harbour - as soon as the tide begins to drop, that is :)
