Thanks so much Hazel - I guess from the name that you're from SA? - It's a country with an inexhaustable suppy of amazing images - I wish in the time I spent there I'd been able to travel more.

Hi there Graham -

Yes I live in Cape Town just directly over the mountain from where you took this picture (as the crow flies). Sorry you ran out of time in SA, but maybe some of the SA photo's here in Panoramio will help fill in for those you missed!! Keep on taking your gorgeous pics, please!!!

Warm greetings,

Thanks Hazel - It's a stunning area - I remember walking on the dune of white sand between Hout Bay and Sandy Bay as well (I've got some old slides somewhere - I was there in 1993-4) - but I never got out and about in Cape Town itself with a camera (or not since 1989-90, when I was still taking prints) - Oh well - maybe next time - my wife still has family there, so we'll never rule it out - and yes - I do regularly look at Pano to remember places - including your pics!

Best wishes

Just browsing through your photos, Graham! The lighting here is gorgeous. "best of"

Graham Hobbs on May 17, 2009

thanks again whoelius - really appreciated - I had a lot of time and fun and a 6x7 camera taking slide film in SA so I think my pictures from that period are much more carefully taken and selected probably - I keep meaning to get back to that sort of professional approach, but so much is just grabbing the time and doing what you can now.. :(

I really appreciate your taking the time to go through some of my older stuff :)

WONDERFUL Great lighting well done buddy. Thanks for sharing, greetings from Trinidad & Tobago.

thanks Puna - just slowly catching up with backlog of correspondence - I suppose if you drive around with a camera you take what looks good at the time rather than go out to photograph certain scenes whatever the light is like when you get there - but I can't help feeling I've been blessed with some marvellous sights over the years, and it sometimes feels like they were laid on specially for me - I'm sure you know what I mean :D
