incredible picture ... looks a bit as it is setting the river alight :-) ... cheers from brussels, christian
Yuh - it was a dark and stormy night. Those red streaks are boats scuttling for cover - the pic was taken from out front garden - you get a lot of view for your money in Swartkops!
Wonderful lighting Mr. Hobbs (and great timing as well)
Really cool Graham, love how you got the lightning to curve around the tree. Guy.
it wasn't easy, Guy - but I had a hand from a lighning bird (aka hammerkop, Scopus umbretta)- it pays to have local knowledge in Africa ;-) Graham
well don't tell anybody Bruce but this was actually taken through te open window of our house in Swartkops...;-) Graham
Wwwwwoooooowwww again, Graham!
ditto to the last lighting shot, Strucki - it's nice getting light trails of boats for a change - they didn't want ot stay out on the water when the lightning started! - and the streetlamp on the trees gives a wonderful bonus. Graham
Nice flashes, Graham, good timing!
Greetings from Germany,
Well, you know how it is Christian - you see a storm, you put your camera on a tripod, and you open the shutter on bulb - and sometimes you get lucky - this time it was with the positioning of the flashes.
thanks for the visit and kind words
This picture is awesome!
as I've said above, mostly luck, like most lightning shots, tu-quoque - but I do think the colour of the street-lamps on the trees tossing in the wind and the tracks of boats scurrying for shelter gives it something a bit different :)
you are right Symen Postema - that time it was :)) Thank-you!
that was my front garden around the year 2000, Maroš Kerek - great spot to be :)
very good shot Like 1
lighting shots are always fun, ★Jaro★Krivosija★ - don't get enough here ;(
