Wandering aimlessly on the net, I came accross this Photo. Hi Marilyn, this is not Meenakshi. Meenakshi is a female goddess. And the one seen in your picture is a male. Though I wouldnt be able to give you the correct name,(it depends on which temple you shot this pic from) I can confirm it must be one of the Gate Keeper Demons, such as Veera Pandi.

I hail from Madurai. Given your pic is selected for Google Earth, it helps to be more authentic; atleast not mis-associate(no offense intended) a male god picture with a female goddess.
