Thanks guys, I love taking pictures of any wildlife but Herons are a wee bit special.

Ghislain, I am honoured to be on your favourites, Im in some pretty impressive company there. I enjoyed reading your profile and I think a lot of us will be glad you are sharing your collection with us here on Panoramio.

Thanks steve, thats very ego boosting, I will be an even more annoying person now ;)

I used to see Herons almost everywhere we go but now since we both got tripods and are trying to improve our photography skills the birds and other wildlife are hiding from us.

These look a lot like the Great Blue Heron. I like this.

They are quite exciting to see when hunting like this one. He is very single-minded, the lake where he hunts has lots of swans, ducks and geese so a lot of people visit to feed the birds but he doesnt let that distract him from his job.

Another cracking shot. I have never managed to get this close to them before they hear/ see me and move on. Paul

I think it depends where they are at the time, on dry land he would have flown off to a safer distance had i tried to get this close but in the water he knows he is safer so almost ignores me.

Andrew an excellent shot! Very sharp, very nicely done! Patty
