Thank you, bartowian, pekin platinel, and Leo. Yes, it has to be Greece!
pekin platinel, I do not know why it is so clean. I certainly did not "clean up" the photo; I even left the bottles there! It is as I saw it, unreal as it may look.
Another splendid shot!
ciao, Marco My Contest
Thank you, Marco. I have enjoyed my first look in your interesting collection, and I will be back. Marilyn
great shot marilyn! you know cropping is allowed in the contest without needing a comment ;)
being a perfectionist and a neatnik, i think the trash distracts too much. but that's me - it's up to you. maybe even the island at top could be removed? you have enough pixels to crop that much.
entries can be changed thru the 10th. good luck!
I appreciate your interest and suggestions, Brian. I remember my initial disappointment when I noticed the trash, and if I were trying to sell the photo, I'd certainly dispose of what is so improperly disposed of on the roof!
But as I've lived with the shot 2 1/2 years ago, I've become attached to this bit of "reality." It's not a perfect world, and to my mind, the imperfection keeps this from having a "too good to be true" feel to it. I'll leave that kind of perfection for the ads and the travel posters, and I'm not aiming to have this used for that. But thank you most sincerely for giving it your attention.
hi marilyn, in a way you are trying to sell your photo if it is entered in a contest ;)
however, cropping it would throw the dome toward the middle and that's not very good either. i see you are in a quandary. you should have moved the trash before taking the picture - i do that sometimes - but it appears to be on a roof! maybe a nice acrobatic youth would have obliged for a bit of cash? :)
the things we do for photos...
Brian, I've found a photo that illustrates the problem. I would have needed to find an extremely acrobatic and somewhat reckless youth--one far out of my price range! Come to think of it, you may well fit the athletic part and your lava fire photo shows you certainly fit the reckless! Where were you when I needed you?
No wonder that the church (presumably) doesn't groom its roof daily!
I was at a roof-top cafe the other side of the walkway. As I've said, I was so enthralled with the view (which I'd tried unsuccessfully to shoot earlier from around the corner on the path) that I didn't even notice the trash and hence didn't think to seek out the acrobat--you or any other.
i see the problem thru the photo link above :( how did the trash get there, i wonder? did someone throw that trash up from the street, or from the roof-top cafe, or out the church window?
if you go collect the trash, you might find an empty envelope identifying the creep who tossed it, Brian :-)
...interesting, to listen in on you two experts discuss "improving your chances" by 'changing reality' -- doesn't leave much of a chance for the rest of us (and I'm in a deep funk now ;-)
...but I'm with Marilyn: there's already "too much" (perfection in the blues and white), it needs no further improvements (had Brian not mentioned the trash, I surely wouldn't even have noticed it)
You could just use white-out. :)
Ohhhhh! Beautiful !
Nawitka, thanks for the suggestions! ;)
And Malko, thank you!
Simple white-blue glimpse to the eternal !!! Thank you, Ioannis
Thank you, Ioannis, for the comment and the links. Greetings, Marilyn
...foto perfetta...voto e preferiti!!!!
Many thanks, fravero! Greetings from Canada.
I thought "too perfect to be true" and then noticed the waste people left on the roof of that wonderful church. Really a wonderful shot. Bye, Christophe
Congrats, Marilyn! This is truly one of my very favorites. I am longing to go back to Greece everytime I see this! We eagerly but humbly await your decision on next month's contest topic.
Marilyn, I'm sure that those two discarded water bottles will not spoil my yellow star which your photo surely deserves. They do even add a human touch... ;) Greetings, Carlos
The winner is...... Marilyn, congratulations Marylin.
Hope you bring back many "winning photos" from your South America-tour.
Have a good time Marilyn.
