I have titled this image " I Waited 11 Years to get this picture ". The reason being I am a Midlander and have toured The highlands since 1998 by motor bike. The A 87 out to Skye is a fantastic motor bike riding road. I have viewed this shot 4 times but never stopped because I have always been in a group and never wanted to split up. This time 2009 I said " We will stop at Eilean Donan". We did stop and I think this is the best still I have ever captured. The blue color in this shot is so vivid and to me is outstanding.
well done,i got a model of it as a present and i had to go and see the real thing. we actually stopped at a guest house just across the loch.
Well thank you for your visit Camberwelle what sort of model did you make. I had a go of doing a 3D google earth model from this picture and it looks OK. If you know how Google Earth works have a look. If not type back here and I can give you some pointers
thanks Martin, it was not a model i made myself it was a liliput lane model.I have travelled all over the place on google earth, great is'nt it?.Did you see it was in 3D, i got the glasses and they stopped doing it i wonder what happened.
Hi Camberwelle I have had a look at the lilliput models on Ebay and I can see what you are on about, and to be fair it is not a bad job. . Nice stuff.
Now the three D thing I was on about you do not need any glasses. Just start Google earth up and go to DORNIE in the search box. The difficult bit is understanding layers. You need to have terrain selected and 3D buildings too. If all is well when you scroll round you will get the castle I made appear on the island.
It is hard to explain all this stuff so look back and I will stick a picture on.
And that was absolutly worth waiting.
Very nice picture of a beautiful historic building.
Greetings from Volendam (Holland),

Martin_Feledziak Great shot. My photo was taken on 120 film in 1988 with an ancient Kodax66 bellows camera, but the result is tolerable. see: www.eileandonancastle for history of the castle.
