Hello Bruce this beautiful sight got me mesmerized. What an abundance of wildflowers. This is an area I would certainly like to explore. I see Castilleja's, commonly known as Indian paintbrush but what are the yellow flowers, do you have any idea? Friends of mine gave me a wonderful field guide to the wildflowers of North America. I'm very interested in the flora as I work for a company who is specialized in wildflowers (of the Netherlands) and also sells garden varieties. This is their website Cruydt- Hoeck. The site is in Dutch only but if you have Google tool bar installed it can be pretty good translated to English. I do most work on the website and lots of the photo's on it are mine too.
Over here in the Netherlands we grow a Viburnum plicatum 'Shasta' (of course an American selection) which in full bloom resembles Mt Shasta.
I Like this a lot!! Greetings from the Netherlands, Erik

Good to hear from you again Erik, and thank you very much for the like!
These flowers are commonly called Buttercups, Ranunculus californicus (Ranunculaceae). They grow all over California and grow especially well in these volcano lava rock meadows around Mt Shasta.

Hi Luca -- thank you kindly for that inspiring comment! You can get this as a 'wallpaper' . . . simply click on the image and it will take you to a page where you can view and download the hi resolution picture . . . big enough to fill a large screen monitor, like 30 inches at least. Feel free to use it as your wallpaper, but note that it (and all images on Panoramio) are copy right protected, so you can't sell it to other people.
Hi ALLWO -- I appreciate the like and your encouraging comment! Many thanks.
Greetings from California, Bruce
