This author Minjun Yue, was born in 1962, from north-east of China. He is a famous Chinese artist. I ever saw his oil paintings sculptures in China. You can see the similar ststues at Suzhou Museum or somewhere.
I like his works very much. He always makes oil paintings and sculptures as his laughing look. So called "Pink Humour", He laughs at the passed history, present socialism as well as the facts of life.
People in China would not talk too much, just laughing to get relaxing in worried life.
In facts, what meaning in the laughing faces can not change pain to humour or happiness, but just takes scare away from pain.

Daniel, thank you so much! I really appreciate your comment; excellent. Now we can all better understand the artist and his enigmatic sculptures. You answered, with great knowledge, to all our dilemmas about the purpose and the meaning of this sculpture.
Hallo Mira, I have found the comment from Daniel yesterday and have read about the artist in the internet. His work is really interesting. Obviously the gesture of the sculpture does mean nothing else than only laughing. A kind of laughing which I feel is like to laught at someone. May be a laughing instead of crying.
