Dear "akatan", I am Dr. Alexandros Frantzis from the Pelagos Cetacean Research Institute, a scientific NGO studying whales and dolphins in Greece. You have photographed short-beaked common dolphins (Delphinus delphis), which are not common at all anymore despite their name. This species has disappeared from the biggest part of the Mediterranean Sea. A few populations units still survive in the northern Aegean Sea. Would you be kind enough to provide the exact date (or month and year at least) that you took the photo and describe as well as you can the position (e.g. 1 km south-east of ...), together with the number of animals that you observed. You can contact us at afrantzis@otenet.gr or www.pelagosinstitute.gr Thank you in advance!
