I used Photo Suite III and converted the image to a water color. I enhanced the saturation, but the red was there. We get very colorful sunrises sometimes.
I've seen the label "Tempe Junction" on several photos. I've lived in and around Tempe for 60 years and to my knowledge there's no such place as Tempe Junction. Great Photo!
I just noticed the generated location. I've seen other questionable names especially with desert locations in the 'boonies'. I don't know how Google Earth relates to places.
As far as the Tempe Junction issue goes - I too am a lifelong resident. Tempe Junction I think is an historical reference to the area where the Macayo's Depot Cantina presently stands. Historically, that area was the major local train station, and there was clearly a junction there. Probably not a lot of modern relevance, but I don't think the label is absurd. In fact, for Tempe in particular, I think the historical anachronism is a nice touch. Tempe in particular is very cool because it is so "young and hip" but is also a very relevant historical area. Preservation of that history, I think, is crucial to Tempe's continued relevance.
Also - the photo is very nice. I have traveled throughout the world, and I think I will never see a sunrise or sunset that could even begin to compare to an Arizona sun.
Good afternoon Mr. Cacahootie.
You should see the sunrise or the sunset in "Arpoador" Ipanema- Rio de janeiro- Brazil.
It is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you ever been there?
