The Sintjansbeek (Saint Johns creek) is from old the most important stream of Arnhem: the town was built along this rivulet. In fact Arnhem wasn't even situated along the Nether-Rhine, untill Karel duke of Gelre dislocated part of the river in 1530-'36.
