This is the Dickens Corner Tea-Rooms and Cafe on the corner of Church Street and the Market Square, Dover, UK.

The plaque above the centre doorway reads:

"Here, while searching for his aunt Betsy Trotwood, David Copperfield rested on the doorstep and ate the loaf he had just bought." (Charles Dickens)

This building was once the original Dovorian Restaurant and the main purpose of the photo is to provide a "then and now" comparison with The (Old) Dovorian Restaurant, Market Square, UK, a black and white photo from a time when the building was owned by Igglesden and Graves, and part of my Old Photos of Dover set on Flickr.

As usual, the seagull towards the top right-hand part of the photo has been included at no extra charge.

Dickens Corner also appears on the The Market Square and Castle Street and The Market Square Fountain photos.

Click to see the New Dovorian Restaurant on the corner of Priory Place and Worthington Street.

Beautiful building, very nicely captured. It looks very impressive in this picture.

The bird in the top right corner really is the icing on the cake... the way it lines up with the ridge of the roof... you could claim you waited for hours to take this photo... ;)

Greetings from Ireland!

Thank you, Feenixx :)

Seagulls and pigeons are forever popping up on the photos I take!

I must admit, however, that I've now gotten into the habit of taking several shots of the same place in case one turns up.

I recently took 3 photos of Dover's new Sea Sports Centre, and sure enough a seagull whizzed by with a mouth full of food - can't quite make out what it is, though, even on the full resolution pic.

Greetings from Dover, England!

There's another view of this building in the, "Dickens Corner to the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Church Street, Dover, Kent, UK" photo.
