Potential tourists please note:- don't expect to go to this town & find a quaint street with a stream down the middle. Unfortunately, the shop keepers are allowed to spoil the look of this street by covering over the stream with tatty looking "sandwich boards" (I had to move them to get this picture showing the water). The town also has a horrible early 70's? shopping centre near the car park that is quite out of keeping with its historical heritage.
I don't know why Crosshatchpics is so angry about Frome. Bits of it are very quaint and other bits not - what's new? It's a bit of a hidden jewel, I think. Also, people here are very laid back - unlike CROSShatchpics, I would imagine.
Crosshatchpics agrees with berners17 about Frome being a bit of a hidden jewel. It just is that the street in the photo is one of the best bits and the little stream adds to the attractiveness. A pity then that the local shopkeepers hide it with their sandwichboards.
Also worth checking out Catherine Hill,Selwood Rd area and nearby Nunney/Mendip Hills!
