This is the Eagle in Juneau which I wrote about after my last visit to Alaska. She was shot by a poacher who broke her wing, pierced her beak and took out an eye. She was found lying in the forest and as she recovered it became clear she would not survive in the wild.
We went up to the top of the mountain specifically to see how she was. The Naturalist remembered us and brought us up to date with her progress.
She is aged between seven and thirty three, which is a good guess when you are trying to ask an Eagle when her birthday is. In the wild she could expect to live to about fifty five years. In captivity she will probably exceed that.
In a few weeks they will take hjer off the mountain which has an altitude of four thousand feet. She will be taken to an aviary in Juneau and will see out the winter there.
Thanks, Steven, for the update. I'm glad to know that she's being well cared for.
Incidentally, the danger of Panoramio's new uploading arrangement is that it's easy to make a typo in a tag as you did here. You'll probably want to correct that so that all your Alaska shots stay together.

Oh wow, I'm glad she is still alive, how traumatic Steven...
Thanks for the up-date on the story of this eagle Steven!
