Ah yes, the lunacy of everyone wanting to go to the same place.

Hi Jethro
Just like the M6 through the West Midlands from 4 to 7 in the evening. So why do pictures like this remind me of the old Bank Holiday?
All the best Peter

You are right, it was Friday night but in the middle of almost-nowhere! There had been a bit of a bender just up ahead of this traffic and hence the back-up. A few more miles and there was road works (praise the lord for stimulus money) and another backup 15 miles long also going the other way. So the title is most apt.
Thank you Peter and n1w for your kind visits to The South!

It reminds me of the time I visited the U.S. from Canada. I was stuck on a turnpike in New Haven during Christmas Eve long ago.

We have Thanksgiving traffic to face soon. That should be a load of fun!
Thank you 阿鵬 yes, our Turn Pikes make wonderful car parks at special times of the year. It will only get worse before it gets better.
Warmest greetings to you both from North Carolina.
