What happened to this world? Why am i here? Will i see my family again, my loved ones? (This photo was made by my grandfather in 1940 in Russia)

This photo was taken by my grandfather in the year 1941 in the Soviet Union. The Heeresgruppe Mitte was on the way to Moscow and hundred of thousands of russian soldiers died or became prisoners of war - or better prisoners of tyranny and barbarism.
I found this photo today again and cannot do anything else: I need to show it and to feel so touched and so sad...
Really an interesting story Sterntaucher, and it's touching the human soul. Your words at the end of the comment sounds like a pray and I will say Amen! Greetings from Macedonia
Thanks a lot for our comment, Ahmet. Yes, it's a really touching photography and i would like to know if my grandfather was so touched too, but he can't tell me so anymore.
It's like a prayer, yes. But a prayer not only to God but even more to all of us...
Thank You very much for your comments to my grandfather's photo pinkdaisy, Majid and Persian lens! I hope we will always think about this if we think about todays conflicts...
thank you for your kind comment. The photo is very impressive i think, telling a story we can't really imagine. We can try to understand it, but i guess my grandfather was closer to understand this man from the far east of Russia than we can do now. Otherwise he wouldn't have taken this photo like he did. And there is one question which really makes me even more sad, Greetje: What did happen to this man then? I guess in this moment he did not know nothing about that what the nazi-barbarism meant for POW's from Russia. When i see him i want to shout: Run away, boy. Run! Get out of here...
We should never forget the ultimate sacrifice made by so many brave and courageous men of all the nationalities at war, during the 1940s Mathias!!
Of course, barbarism as practised by the SS and certain Nazi forces, was beyond all humanity and should never be forgotten.. Poor men, such as the unfortunate soldier above, could never have believed, or understood what fate had in store for them!! I have read some of the accounts of those few who survived the death camps and those long cruel forced marches, over thousands of kilometres that ended in death, before many of them reached their final destination!! I wonder if he ever made it!!
thanks a lot for your words. You express perfect what i think when i look at this photo. This post is meant to be a little monument for men like him, for the victims of this war, the tyranny and nazi-barbarism.
