Hi there Spider!
Just came across the old trolley bus. It is something my Dad put there when he had the leases in this area. Absolutely crazy there are pictures of this on Google. Dad was just here and I showed him - it brought back some memories.
We are thinking of going back up there for a look and see how the old camp is going - great to see the pics of the camp.
Gald to hear the photo's got the interest fired up to go out here again .It's great country at the right time of year. The white ants have moved in on the bus floor and panneling could not walk inside the bus you would fall throu. The camp is still in good condition compared with others i have seen and from your conments i would believe it has been many years since your Dad was there. Feel free to contact me for more infro.
Probably 98 or 99 was the last time Dad was up there. He used to spend a lot of time up there when had the leases.
Do you get around that way often - or were you just passing through when you saw the camp?? We are thinking of trying to get up there in the next year or so - not even sure who has the leases at the moment.
anyways - thanks for the reply!
Hi mallyboo,I would like to out that way more often but usually only once a year in October with my son. I found the camp on google earth and just had to investigate what looked like a roof.It doesn't look like a lot of people have visited the camp or mining activity.Sometimes the places I find I keep to myself so they don't get destroyed but the old trolley bus just got me to share that photo.I can remember using them in Perth many years ago.
Cheers for now Michael.
Congratulations on your gallery, I love this photo especially.
For your taste you'll love the Atacama desert and the surrounding area.
Add to my favorites.
Oh wow,Michael, that sure is very special, finding the people who used to own this bus, through your photo on here!!! Do you know, mallyboo, was the bus driven to this site?? Kind Regards Caroline
This is a old trolley bus and runs on electric power like the electric trains of today. It was towed to site with "A Frame" which you can just see in the pic of the front of bus.
Now I understand Michael...did they use trolley buses in Kalgoorlie? My parents have told me about the trolley buses in Perth...
I believe they were in Perth only and I remember riding on them as kid to the city and back.
